Ban on all events, wedding parties and closure of venues in Abu Dhabi have been extended until further notice, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi said on Friday.

"In line with the precautionary measures to ensure public health and safety, DCT Abu Dhabi extends ban of events, wedding parties and closure of venues in Abu Dhabi until further notice."

The DCT also extended temporary closure of all cultural sites, period of suspension of all tour services and activities related to sea cruises, desert camps and safari tours as well as the operation of floating restaurants.

"Routine checks and inspections will be carried out in all hotel and tourism establishments, nightclubs, floating restaurants and other tourist attractions in order to verify compliance with the Department's instructions. Those failing to comply with the instructions will be subject to legal measures."

However, the DCT noted the ban will not last long and the country will emerge stronger from this situation.

"Silence is an opportunity for reflection, a chance to remember the wisdom of our forefathers and all they have done and sacrificed - for all of us and for the sake of our country," the DCT said.
"Remember this silence, for it will not last long. The wheels of life will turn again, propelled by our solidarity, the support of leadership and our will to prevail.  Abu Dhabi's gates will open once more, welcoming the world as we always have and always will."
