Dubai - The Indian High School Dubai tweeted out a video in which teachers rap out phrases that are typically associated with Indian teachers.

A rap video featuring teachers being cool and even doing the moonwalk was the highlight as Indian schools in the UAE took Teachers' Day celebrations online. In India, Teachers' Day is marked on September 5 in honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an exemplary teacher who later became India's first vice-president and second president.
The Indian High School Dubai tweeted out a video in which teachers rap out phrases that are typically associated with Indian teachers.
"Don't make noise, stay quiet ... Did you hear the bell ring, cos I sure didn't; then put your phones back in and your books back out," the amusing song goes.
Punit MK Vasu, CEO - The Indian High Group of Schools, said the video is a shout out to the teachers, "who have truly been at the frontline ensuring learning never stops".
"It shows how our teachers are fun loving and cool ... and we are truly proud to be in the teaching profession," he said.
The video was among the several shared on the day as the Consulate General of India, Dubai, encouraged Netizens to post tribute videos with #OurTeachersOurHeroes and #TeachersfromIndia.
Neeraj Agarwal, consul for Press, information, and culture at the Consulate-General of India in Dubai, said: "There is a sizeable number of the Indian population here in the UAE. On behalf of the Indian community, we want to pay tribute to all the teachers who have put in extra effort in these very difficult times to adapt to the new normal. Let's connect and try and bridge the gaps through our efforts while maintaining social distancing."
He said several schools and students have posted many interesting videos to celebrate this very special bond.
Students organised a series of online programmes and appreciation speeches for their teachers.
Some schools sent gifts to their teachers. Amity School Dubai principal Sangita Chima said: "Teachers have been the true frontline heroes, and to thank them for their hard work over the past few months, we decided to create special care packages for them. With student assistance, we wrapped up boxes of goodies that were given to all teachers and staff. Small messages of gratitude from students were also shared with each teacher."
Role play: Senior students become teachers
Some senior school students played the role of teachers and took virtual lessons.
Pramod Mahajan, principal of Sharjah Indian School, said: "Everybody was thrilled. They danced, sang and even did skits talking on Zoom Breakout Rooms. So, everybody connected digitally and this was also a new learning experience. When you give students the autonomy, real learning happens."
Sanjeev Kumar Jolly, principal and CEO, GEMS Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a, said the school marked the day with a 90-minute entertainment programme on Thursday.
