A British boy's letter about his mother being stranded in the UK due to Covid-19-triggered travel restrictions has received a royal assurance of help.
The boy, Archie, had written a letter to His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, on May 11. The grade 1 student wrote that he had been away from his mother for "52 sleeps" and that he had never been apart from her.

I was pleased today to respond to a letter from Archie, the British boy whose mother was prevented from returning from the United Kingdom to Ras Al Khaimah due to the current circumstances. We worked to satisfy his desire to see his mother at the earliest opportunity, highlighting on Zayed Humanitarian Day that the UAE will always be a beacon of humanity in this world. #???_?????? #????????_???????_??????? #RsAlKhaimah #UAE

The boy had met the Ras Al Khaimah Ruler in June last year during a palace visit. The boy said he remembered Sheikh Saud as a "very kind helpful Sheikh".
In a touching gesture, the Ras Al Khaimah Ruler responded to the boy's letter with a handwritten one the very next day. In a video Sheikh Saud posted, the boy can be seen receiving the letter from an official from the RAK Media Office.
In it, the Sheikh Saud said he understood how the little boy must be missing his mommy and that he was proud of Archie being so brave.
"I hope bringing her home will make you smile," Sheikh Saud wrote.
As soon as he read the letter, the little boy can be seen flashing a smile.
It is understood that the boy would be reunited with his mother soon.
Sheikh Saud posted on Instagram: "We worked to satisfy his desire to see his mother at the earliest opportunity, highlighting on Zayed Humanitarian Day that the UAE will always be a beacon of humanity in this world."
