Single-day Covid-19 recoveries cross 200 for the first time in UAE

The UAE registered the highest number of single-day recoveries from Covid-19 on Tuesday with 203 people getting cured of the disease, an official has announced.
During a virtual Press briefing on Tuesday, Amna Al Dahhak Al Shamsi, official spokesperson of the UAE Government, said the total recoveries became 2,966.
"With 18,698 new tests, 567 new cases were detected and all patients are receiving proper treatment and medical care. It brings the total cases in the UAE to 14,730," said Al Shamsi. She pointed out that the tests are continuing on all categories of the society in all emirates.
The UAE has also registered 11 deaths on Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths to 137.
Dr Al Shamsi noted that many studies show that those with chronic diseases and weak immune system are the most vulnerable to contract Covid-19.
She referred to the recent Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and his directives to urgently develop an integrated plan to enhance the competitiveness and productivity of the country's medical sector.
"We have the national resources, talents and technological infrastructure that qualify us to meet our medical needs and carry out these directives in order to develop the medical sector," she added.
Dr Mona Al Bahr, advisor to the chairman of the Department of Community Development, said that a survey was conducted in Abu Dhabi in the beginning of April to monitor the challenges and developments in order to put in place the adequate programmes and policies to face the current challenges.
The survey, which was launched at the start of April, focused on several pillars, including the public's awareness of the pandemic and related preventative measures, as well as institutional readiness to address the crisis and family and community cohesion.
Dr Al Bahar noted that the number of respondents to the survey, titled "Life During the Time of the Coronavirus," amounted to 44,979 participants from 193 nationalities, with women accounting for 52.8 percent and men for 47.2 percent.
Dr Al Bahar added that the survey is being updated weekly and is still open to monitor changes in different social indexes. She noted that 90 per cent of survey participants were aware of how to deal with the virus, adding that their key sources of information aligned with the country's official sources, while 84 percent of participants believed that local media coverage of the pandemic was substantive and covered important aspects.
