Sharjah Police are providing their officers with face masks to protect them and the community from the coronavirus and other infectious diseases.
The force say this preventive measure allows police to perform their duties with the highest level of efficiency without fearing about the risk of transmission of Covid-19.
In a Facebook post, Sharjah Police said masks cover the face and prevent officers from being exposed to viruses flying in the air.
They said the mask is lightweight and easy to use and can be cleaned and reused several times throughout the day when exposed to pollution.
The statement on Sharjah Police's Facebook page added: "This is based on the commitment of the General Command of Sharjah Police to take measures which provide protection to its frontline workers, especially those who perform their duties in exceptional circumstances and conditions that require a lot of protection. These measures enable them to perform their duties with the highest efficiency, readiness and preparation to achieve the goals of Sharjah Police in line with the strategic goal of the Ministry of Interior to enhance safety."
