A number of salons and barbershops were ordered shut in Sharjah for violating Covid-19 safety measures, authorities said on Wednesday.
The closures followed the inspections conducted by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) to ensure beauty centres' compliance with the measures put in place to fight the spread of Covid-19.
Wearing masks and gloves at all times and requirement appointments for services were among the rules laid out by the SEDD.
Salons should also commit to sanitising their facilities regularly, it added.
The SEDD recently expanded its inspection campaigns to include the central and eastern regions of Sharjah.
The department called on the public to report any violation of safety measures. Residents may call the hotline 80080000 or get in touch with authorities through the SEDD social media account (Sharjaheconomic). They may also log into the consumer protection website www.shjconsumer.ae .
