Covid-19 test certificate is necessary for those returning from the UAE.

Passengers from the UAE flying to Kerala require Covid-19 negative certificate but needn't wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as was reported by some media on Wednesday.

However, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday specified different parameters for passengers from Gulf countries. He noted that passengers from countries with provision for Covid-19 test must do so.

"They must keep the test certificate handy. The test should be done within 72 hours of travel," Vijayan said at a Press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.

"Covid-19 test certificate is necessary for those returning from the UAE. The country is conducting antibody test."

All passengers taking Vande Bharat Mission or chartered flights from the airports in the UAE undergo IgM/IgG rapid antibody tests and are certified 'fit to travel' when tested negative.

It's not immediately known what the chief minister implied by 72-hour validity. Air India Express travel agency office in Abu Dhabi said it has no intimation of the new stipulation.

"Passengers for Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram flights on Thursday will be taking only the usual rapid test at the airport," the office said.

Indian Embassy couldn't be reached for clarity on this matter.

Vijayan urged all passengers to register on https://covid19jagratha.kerala.nic.in/.

"On landing in Kerala, all passengers must be ready for screening as per the state health protocols. Those who haven't been tested abroad will undergo rapid tests," the chief minister added.

PPE kits must for Saudi Arabia

Those coming from Oman and Bahrain must wear N95 mask, face shield and gloves, and use hand sanitisers regularly. Apart from the N95 mask, face shield and gloves, passengers from Saudi Arabia need to wear PPE kit. Anyone returning from Kuwait without performing Covid-19 test also must wear a PPE kit.
