Abu Dhabi residents are being urged, via giant LED display screens installed across the city, to download the UAE's state-of-the-art coronavirus testing and contact-tracing app, Al Hosn.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi has erected the screens to remind people to share the app with family and friends to help protect themselves and the community.
"Protecting yourself protects your community. Download Al Hosn app," says the message.

Al Hosn, which is being hailed as more effective than a curfew in curbing the spread of Covid-19, helps authorities track who potential coronavirus patients have come into contact with.

The app was launched by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) in May.
It is supported by iOS and Android smartphones and can be downloaded at the Apple App store, Google Play, Galaxy or Huawei Huawei AppGallery stores.
