Fighting coronavirus: 17,000 nursery staff to be trained ahead of reopening in UAE

Abu Dhabi - The training programme aims to ensure that nurseries are ready to receive children by training and qualifying nursery managers.

The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority has launched a training programme targeting about 17,000 teachers and other administrative staff across the country as they prepare for reopening of nurseries.
The training programme, titled 'Improving today for a better tomorrow', aims to ensure that nurseries are ready to receive children by training and qualifying nursery managers, teachers and teaching assistants to develop their capabilities and skills through 100 specialised sessions to support nurseries post Covid-19, said authorities.
As part of its 'Takween' summer programme, the training plan is being conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Education (MoE) students, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek), the Sharjah Education Council, the Sharjah Special Education Authority, and the Abu Dhabi Centre for Public Health.
All nursery workers can register for the programme for free from August 30 until September 13 by visiting eca.gov.ae
The National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority on Thursday said nurseries and childcare centres in the UAE will be allowed to operate by putting all Covid-19 precautionary measures in place.
The 'Takween' summer programme includes various initiatives and activities such as dozens of training workshops for staff working at nurseries as well as parents being hosted by a group of leading experts. The workshops aim to train workforce at nurseries and introduce them to best practices especially during the pandemic.
Plans to engage families
Additionally, as part of 'Takween' programme, two schemes have been designed to serve and support families. One is for families with children of determination and the other for all families in general. It is titled 'Motherhood and Parenthood during Covid-19 and Beyond'.
The programme includes 12 training plans per week to provide credible and safe sources for parents and caregivers to maximise summer vacation benefits. Participants will receive certificates of achievement upon completion of the programme.
'Takween' programme also includes Lamsa Summer Camp, which aims to foster a culture that encourages positive and healthy use of technology, including smartphones and screens, and empower parents and caregivers with innovative tools to develop children's capabilities. The camp will provide parents and their children interactive recreational, educational and entertainment activities that are free of charge until the end of this year.
