Coronavirus: UAE reports 387 new Covid-19 cases, 365 recoveries

The authorities urged the public to avoid social gatherings and follow social distancing guidelines.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 387 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 365 new recoveries.
This brings the total number of cases to 47,360 and the total recoveries to 35,834.
The authority also announced one death as a result of the illness, bringing the total number of deaths to 311 in the country.
The authorities have reaffirmed wearing masks as absolutely mandatory ,everywhere whenever that people step out of their homes and all citizens and residents have been asked to fully comply and adhere to all safety measures implemented by the same.
"Criminal prosecutions have been announced for violators, including a six-month incarceration and/or minimum fine of AED 100,000 for repeat violators", Salem Al Zaabi, Acting Director of the Federal Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Prosecution said.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention also highlighted its aim to expand the scope of testing nationwide, to facilitate the early detection of Covid-19 cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Centre has now treated more than 2,000 patients suffering from coronavirus, with 1,200 already fully recovered from the effects of the virus. The significant increase in use of stem cell treatment was as a result of the UAE Government's decision to make the treatment - called UAECell19 - available free of charge to all moderate-to-high risk Covid-19 patients in the country.
In the past week, many UAE hospitals were declared Covid-free after discharging their recovered patients, including Mediclinic, Adnec field hospital and Tawam hospital among others. The milestone was reached due to the consistent efforts of the healthcare sector and testing in line with the National Screening Programme, which has drastically reduced the number of cases requiring medical care.
The ministry, however, called upon the public to adhere to health guidelines and instructions from the relevant authorities, particularly concerning social distancing, to ensure the health and safety of all.  Authorities also stressed on the need to avoid social gatherings and urged the residents to wear masks and gloves when stepping out.
