The Sharjah Police have arrested an Arab man for mocking efforts of the sterilisation programme teams during their operation in Um Khanoor area in Sharjah.
The man had made a video clip of the entire exercise and posted it online. The clip showed the man pooh-poohing and scoffing at the operation and authorities.
As the video went viral, the man was arrested for the post. He is being interrogated and will soon be referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
A top official at the Sharjah Police said they received a complaint from an individual about a video that was posted on a social media platform by a person who mocked the sterilisation efforts.

He warned that the police will not tolerate any action that harms or seeks to obstruct the procedures and measures applied to protect the community or diminish the value of the actions undertaken to implement preventive programmes in all locations.
The Sharjah Police warned that it will take all legal measures against any person who publishes any offensive material or expressions through social media or any means humiliating or mocking the ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
