As Italy struggles to tackle the sudden outbreak of Covid-19 in the country that left 17 people dead so far and over 600 infected, panic seems to have taken over people as instances of racism and xenophobia increase.  (Coronavirus outbreak: All the latest updates)
According to reports in The Filipino Times, a Filipino man was mistaken for a Chinese national and punched in the face in a supermarket in the town of Lombardy, Italy, by a local. The incident was filmed and the video was posted on Youtube showing the Asian man being hit on the face without any provocation.  
The video was captured in the supermarket in Lidl, Casalpusterlengo town, which one of the areas under lockdown in Lombardy. In the video, the attacked Asian man is heard shouting he was a Filipino before he fights back and gets into a scuffle with the unidentified man.

This is not the first instance of discrimination against Asians, as Chinese and other Asian nationalities were being blamed for spreading the Covid-19 which has killed 2,800 people and spread to 47 countries, reported Newsweek.com.
