All public parks in Al Ain have been closed temporarily amid fears of the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the country.

The Al Ain City Municipality on Monday announced on Twitter that it has ordered for the closure of all parks in Al Ain city as part of precautionary measures to protect the health of the community.

It is the latest in a series of protection measures in public places as authorities in UAE are keen on limiting the exposure of people to the virus.

Since the coronavirus spreads through droplets secreted by infected people, authorities are calling on people visiting facilities such as salons, gyms, swimming pools, shisha cafés and others to be vigilant about preventive measures.

People have been urged not to shake or greet others with hands, wash and sanitise their hands frequently and to keep social distance while in public places.
