The two-day festivity, which is on its second round, was organised by the Students Service Department, students various clubs and the Student Council, also aimed to enhance parent-varsity relationships. A spectrum of numerous activities was showcased during the event, including the students' artworks during their four year of studies, photography exhibition about the different activities and programmes students have previously carried out, power point presentations of their capstone projects, gulf heritage projects, graphics, paintings, drawing competitions, handmade crafts, short stories, book fairs on educational and academic materials, as well the achievements of the students in different academic activities.
Students of the Arts and Design Department also presented a number of art works, while the College of Business Sciences, displayed a corner for the steps of making, producing, marketing, and selling perfumes. As a token of appreciation and love, the Creativity Club put together the longest letter to mothers and presented it to Her Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Wife of the President and Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union.
The Literature Club, organised competitions between Abu Dhabi and Dubai Students on the best short stories and winning students were awarded appreciation certificates as well as poetry books in English language while the Culture Club displayed photos of the students' cultural and academic trips to France, Spain, and Scotland. In cooperation with international publishing houses, the College of Education organised a book fair thronged by a large number of bookworms, and the 'Young UAE Artists' organised several competitions where students contested for the best photographs and interior designs.
A debate session chaired by a number of prominent personalities, who are experts in the fields of arts, education, and science to discuss related issues, was held by the Debate Society. Besides, participants also enjoyed local poetry recitals by the UAE female poets: Al Anood Al Balooshi, Reem Al Ameri, Nasaem Al Sada, Dana Al Emirat, and Shoaq. The College of Arts and Sciences organised a Heritage Village Exhibition, showcasing traditions, customs and heritage of the UAE society.
To express the negative impact of some TV shows and programmes of some satellite channels, the students performed a play criticising the 'Star Academy' programme in which Arab youth compete to be selected as singers and get the title of the 'Arab top singer'.
Prominent women personalities, VIPs and dignitaries, who have participated in the different programmes and activities of the students, in addition to about 230 students from the varsity different clubs and the Student Council have also been honoured on the sidelines of the festival.
'This Festival comes in the context of the social and cultural activities of the students, with which the varsity is highly concerned. ZU, is also keen to develop modern techniques of education and provide students with opportunities to practise what they have learnt,' said Dr Hanif Hassan Al Qassimi, Vice-President of the University, commenting on the festival.
