Since the onset of Covid-19, various celebrities have lauded their respective government's efforts to contain the pandemic and entreated their fans and the general public to #StayHome and #StaySafe. But when a superstar like Mohanlal, loved and adored by Malayalees all around the world, puts out a special message for the expat Malayalee population in the UAE, it is indeed cause for immense joy.

Wishing everyone on the occasion of Ramadan, the Malayalam star said in a recently posted video, "I have come to know through friends and media in the UAE that many expat organisations and social workers have put their lives on the line to ensure that those who have been deemed helpless due to the pandemic receive timely help."
He added, "We should first and foremost appreciate the unceasing efforts of the rulers of the United Arab Emirates and Dubai, the Dubai Health Authority, the Dubai Police, and the Consulate of India in the UAE, for their initiatives in tackling the pandemic."
Lal accorded special mention to the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), Indian Cultural and Arts Society (INCAS), All Kerala College Alumni Forum (AKCAF), World Malayalee Council (WMC) and other individuals including Mohandas, Ashraf Thamarassery and Anwar Nahab. He observed, "There are many others who have been helping the community in these times of dire need, and I fold my hands in love, honour and acknowledgement of the dedicated service rendered to the community by radio stations, restaurants and other social organizations and individuals to this end."

Mohanlal, who is self-isolating in Chennai while his family is in Kerala, had posted an emotional piece titled 'We Shall Overcome' on his blog, encouraging his fans to be patient and optimistic. He had also collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and Mammootty, among others, for a short film Family made at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
