First airport DJs to drop the beat at DXB from April 4

Dubai - The new roaming musicDXB stage will present free monthly concerts for travellers.

This weekend, resident DJs are set to take to the decks - not at the newest nightclub in town, but at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Their debut airport performance is, in fact, taking place April 4.
In partnership with music industry icons Olly Wood and Greg Stainer, DXB is launching the world's first airport DJ residency project as part of its musicDXB platform.
The new roaming musicDXB stage will present free monthly concerts for travellers, featuring an array of international and local artists, alongside Dubai's favourite DJ duo Hollaphonic, who will begin their residency this weekend with two, two-hour sets.
"Right now, an average one in five people are walking around the airport with headphones on, listening to music that comforts and soothes, motivates and inspires and sparks joy. You get those same feelings while travelling, so partnering with DXB seemed as natural as Mariah hitting a high note," said Hollaphonic's Wood.
"From chilled ambient beach vibes to the summer anthem that still makes you a smile a decade later, music influences our mood and even more so when we travel."
The project is not a one-off thing, the team confirmed, the airport DJs will be bringing DXB to life for the long haul.
Stainer and Wood will fully curate the musicDXB programme and work alongside DXB to share their love of music with the 250,000 daily visitors passing through the global hub.
The duo will also tap into their extensive network either to invite established performers over or to showcase up and coming talent.
As a next step, the goal is to appeal to the world's most celebrated artists and encourage them to consider DXB as a new space to perform and reach out to a global audience.
"Pianists at the baggage reclaim area don't cut it anymore. Our customers are well-travelled, global citizens and expect more. At DXB, we are really making some bold steps to offer just that," said Matthew Horobin, director of Brand at Dubai Airports.
"Live performances by incredible singers from around the world that make you stop and take a moment - these are moments people will remember and share with their family and friends. These are the kind of moments we create at DXB," he said.
Next weekend, Dubai-based house DJs Scott Forshaw and Mark Shakedown will be part of the show. And after a break during Ramadan, the performances will be back and home-grown names like Stephon Lamar and international talent such as US artist Alex Syps will bring energy during the airport's busiest times.
