Another UAE first took place on Sunday as the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) organised the first event in the When is Now? performance series, hosted by Berklee Abu Dhabi, with a drive-in music concert, where music lovers were able to watch from the safety of their own cars.

The Drive-in Concert at Berklee Abu Dhabi featured Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Mayssa Karaa on vocals accompanied by Yarub Smarait on violin, Juan Diego Dhas on guitar, Anthony Muthurajah on drums, and Prathit Kadam on keyboards.

With mass-gathering events currently postponed because of the global health crisis, invited guests instead drove their cars to a delegated parking space in the courtyard of Berklee Abu Dhabi in the Saadiyat Cultural District to view the musicians performing on stage.
To ensure the safety of all involved, only 15 cars took part with three people from a single household in each car. Social distancing was also observed by the musicians, security personnel and other staff.
The concert culminated with audience members partaking in a rendition of the UAE National Anthem by accompanying the musicians with their car horns.
