Skyfire. Jason Isaacs is this week’s Hollywood actor to appear in a Chinese action thriller and it doesn't look half bad. A resort Island is one of the world’s most sought-after vacation destinations. It almost makes people forget that it is located in the "Ring of Fire" the world-famous Pacific Rim volcanic belt. Chaos soon ‘erupts’ when the once dormant volcanoes start rumbling. A battle with nature to get off the Island while fiery death and destruction rains down the mountains ensues. Who will win? Rotten Tomatoes gives it 50%

Twist. Twist and shout it’s a modern ‘twist’ on the Dickens’ classic Oliver Twist. This time around the film adaptation forgoes any of the musical flair exhibited by its 1968 predecessor and instead portrays OT (Rafferty Law) as an inner-city graffiti artist contracted by Fagin (Michael Caine) to join his band of delinquents led by Dodger (Rita Ora) to carry out an art heist in collaboration with Bill Sikes (Lena Hadley). IMDb gives it 3.9

Dreamkatcher. Your visceral nightmares may seem realistic from time to time, but they have nothing on this kid’s. A young boy (Finlay Wojtak-Hissong) moves with his family to a cabin in the woods. Happening upon a shop selling dreamcatchers, the proprietor recognises the malevolent spirits which roam the wilderness have taken a shine to him. When the child falls asleep, they proceed to take over and really want to create an uncomfortable living environment for mum and dad. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 47%

Shock Wave 2. This all-out Hong Kong action flick contains a bucket full of explosions, martial arts and guns, so a certain segment of the cinema-going population will be very happy. Andy Lau plays bomb-disposal captain Poon Sing-Fung who is framed for an atrocity involving a small nuclear weapon and the elimination of his colleagues. He must escape prison to find the culprits. IMDb gives it 7.3
