Choreographer, film director, producer and actor Prabhu Deva prefers being a dancer first followed by a director and then an actor.
No wonder, he sounded really excited for his upcoming dance show in Dubai, Mathrubhumi Live with The Legends: Prabhu Deva Dance Concert which is happening tomorrow at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
We sat with this painfully shy artist last month to discuss the show.
"I am very excited as for the first time I am doing a show of this massive scale. You will see all my superhit songs. I am choosing some songs and organisers are choosing some. Earlier I used to get nervous performing on stage but these days I love it. At the beginning of my journey I would avoid being on stage but now I understand the magic of being on stage and the art of connecting with the audiences. I understand the technical aspects of performing on stage now," said Prabhu while talking to City Times.
He also added that he often comes to Dubai for work and to spend time with family and friends. "I enjoy chilling in the UAE," he said.
He will soon begin directing Salman Khan for Dabangg 3. The filmmaker said that it will be a character-driven film. "It will be a typical Chulbul Pandey film. Pre-production and scripting of Dabangg 3 are going on and I just love the character of Chulbul Pandey. This will be a character-driven story." arti@khaleejtimes.com

Behind the scenes of Prabhu's iconic songs
Urvasi Urvasi
Prabhu: The shooting of Urvasi happened on real roads. We were shooting in the bus and were dancing in the moving bus. It was a bit dangerous and thankfully, no one was hurt during the shooting. Police would often come and halt our shooting. Of course, we had all the permissions. It was a fun experience. That song was so good and we knew it would be popular but we had no idea that it would become a cult song. I was choreographing the song apart from performing in it.
Muqabala Muqabala
Prabhu: Muqabala shooting happened in Chennai. I had a ligament tear in my left leg. So I would tie my left leg with scrap bandage and dance. I would dance by giving full weight to my right leg. We had no idea that this song would become so massively popular.
Kay Sera Sera
Prabhu: Kay Sera happened in Hyderabad. It was really hot. I had done a song for Madhuri earlier. But I was dancing with her for the first time. She loves dancing and she would rehearse a lot. Whenever we would give her tough steps, she would repeatedly ask for rehearsals and I think that is why she is such a legend.
