Arts for wellbeing

Can art be therapeutic? That’s what Louvre Abu Dhabi is investigating in its Arts for Health and Wellbeing webina led by the museum’s education department. Bringing together leading figures in museum-based health and wellbeing programmes, the experts will explore best practices, compare approaches in therapy and therapeutic practices seen in different regions from around the world, as well as discuss the societal stigma around healing modalities. Expect informed opinions from big industry names including May Chung Khuen, Helen Jury and Dana Al Mazrouei. It’s on tonight at 7pm GST via louvreabudhabi.ae/en/Whats-Online/webinar

Augmented reality art

A one-of-a-kind art installation will bring to life colour through a live, animated art display, by two Dubai-based artists this weekend. Ariel Middle East is hosting PodArt, an interactive event that combines augmented reality and abstract art installations until October 24 at The Beach JBR and City Walk in Dubai. Artists Paul Bruwer and Dreams of Grandeur have come together to create life size pieces of art that reflect what colours mean to each of them. Scan the pieces’ QR codes to experience the vivid AR. It’s on from 1pm to 11pm each day and you can win prizes.

Plant-based burgers

Want a juicy sandwich but looking to cut back on meat? The UAE’s Gourmet Burger Kitchen has added a wide range of deliciously crafted vegetarian and vegan burgers to its core menu just in time for World Vegan Month in November. GBK’s vegan Californian is loaded with a pan-fried bean patty topped with vegan cheddar, smashed avocado, harissa mayo, paprika onions, relish and salad. Order on the recently launched mobile App ‘GBK UAE’ and get 25 percent off when you use the code 25GBK.

Water world Ladies’ Day

It’s not over just yet! Yas Waterworld’s Ladies Days will continue to offer splashtastic moments during the month of October. Ladies’ Days events will continue every Thursday and Monday until October 29 running from 2pm to 11pm. With 40 rides, slides and attractions, Ladies Days guarantee female-only staff ensuring 100 per cent privacy.

Learn to brew

Imagine being your own barista. Now you can. Due to popular demand, Mokha 1450 is bringing back free weekly brewing tutorials. Every Saturday for the next four weeks, the award-winning coffee makers at the lounge will walk bean lovers through every method of brewing available; from pourover, and Siphon coffee, to how to make the perfect cold brew - all methods will be covered to help those in pursuit of the perfect (brewed) cup. The sessions are free to attend and take place from 2pm to 3pm at Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge, Palm Jumeirah.

Eats & Beats

Now the weather is finally cooler it’s time to explore new outdoor spots. To kick things off, head down to Eats & Beats, and enjoy the chill-out vibes until October 31 at The Beach where you can also take advantage of dining offers. Unwind with laid-back beach-side tunes for up to eight hours every weekend with DJ Ash, DJ Kat and Andy Swift while kids 12 years and below enjoy free meals at participating F&B outlets.

Furry friends are back

From today animal lovers will once again be able to visit their friends at Umm Al Emarat Park’s Animal Barn, hosted in collaboration with Al Ain Zoo. Ponies, rabbits, tortoises, pygmy goats, and camels are all there as well as three new inquisitive Emus, the world’s second largest bird by height. Umm Al Emarat Park is open every day from 8am to midnight with the last entry at 11pm.
