From the top please, Maestro
Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro is on at Dubai Opera tonight. This witty yet profound tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness is played out over four acts. The story does not lend itself to a typical operatic performance but unfolds with a great deal of physical comedy and a hint of a dark undercurrent, set to Mozart's masterpiece of a score. Set in Count Almaviva's castle in Seville, The Marriage of Figaro is a sequel to his earlier play, The Barber of Seville, familiar through Rossini's great opera.
