Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Kolkata late Friday night after the 85-year-old's health deteriorated, hospital sources said on Saturday.

Chatterjee, who had tested positive for coronavirus on October 5, was suffering from several comorbidities. He was immediately shifted to an ICU for close monitoring.

A day after his Covid-19 test, he was admitted to the hospital but in a stable condition.

The sources said Chatterjee was unwell for the past couple of days and reportedly suffering from fever. He was shooting for a documentary titled Abhijan directed by actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
