The nepotism debate in Bollywood was given fresh momentum in the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Now Sonu Sood, who had no godfathers in the film industry, has said that he was removed from the posters of many of his films in the initial days of his career.

"I don't belong to a film family. When I entered the industry, there were a lot of films where I felt like I should have been there on the posters, but I was removed. There are two ways to go about this. Either I can complain about not being on the poster, my role being cut short or I work hard to become worthy enough that people say that he deserves to be on the poster and have a substantial role," the actor told In Zee News.
According to the Dabangg actor  people who have power will always use it - be it Bollywood, corporate world or a clothes shop. "Anyone with power will always try to suppress the one below him. You need to have the power to overcome this," he added.
The actor said there are people doing wrong, but they do not represent the whole industry, they're individuals.
In the recent episode of Neha Dhupia's show, No Filter Neha, the Sood recalled how he bagged his first role in a South Indian movie.  "Whenever I used to give auditions, I thought I have given my best, but I never bagged any role. Then I realised this is the worst thing for people. But when I got my first South film, my mum gave me a book 'how to learn Tamil,' and I read it the entire way and made some notes. As soon as I reached on the sets, the AD gave me a place to sit and be comfortable, and I was just thinking and taking all the feels of being an actor. Now my life is taking a new turn, and suddenly the director and the producer of the film walked towards me and asked to flaunt my body. I removed my t-shirt, gave them a few poses, and they said its good that you are doing our film, Sir. And I confirmed, did I get the film, and they said yes!"

Sood recently came in for a lot of praise for helping stranded migrants reach their hometown by arranging transport for them.
