Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's farmhouse in Alibaug, India, has been provisionally attached by the Income Tax department.
It is alleged that Shah Rukh Khan had bought an agricultural land in Alibaug for farming but instead built a lavish farmhouse for personal use. The attachment notice was issued in December last year under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act (PBPT).
The Deja Vu Farms is a 19,960 square meters property with a huge swimming pool and a private helipad with a circle rate of Rs146.7 million. I-T officials told The Times of India that the department sent an email regarding the matter to Shah Rukh Khan-owned company Red Chillies Entertainment and Kolkata Knight Riders' Chief Executive Officer on January 24, but it was not answered despite several reminders.
Post the notice, SRK has been given 90 days to reply and do the attachment of the property, failing which the accused can get up to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and pay 25 per cent of the property's value.
According to the reports in India Today, the I-T officials also alleged that, SRK forged documents, formed a fake company and even violated costal regulations by constructing a farmhouse on an agricultural land.
Deja Vu Farms has been a destination of celebrity parties and birthday celebrations hosted by Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri Khan and came under the I-T scanner in November last year. The only income shown by Deja Vu Farms was of Rs84.5 million, an unsecured loan given by SRK to the company.
