Sanjana Sanghi on Kangana's allegations of responding late to #MeToo accusations against Sushant

The 'Dil Bechara' actress says nobody has the authority to decide that it was 'late'.

Back in 2018 several Indian media outlets had published reports of the Dil Bechara (then called Kizie Our Manny) shoot being stalled because actor Sushant Singh Rajput had allegedly been 'extra-friendly' towards his co-star Sanjana Sanghi, which made her 'uncomfortable.'
Sanjana responded to the report on Twitter, not immediately, but after - as she put it - 'a long trip to the US'. She wrote in a tweet dated October 23, 2018, "On returning from a long trip to the US yesterday, I read several baseless and unfounded stories with respect to misconduct and misbehaviour on the sets of our film Kizie Aur Manny. I'd like to clarify that no such incident took place with me. Let's put an end to these conjectures."
Sushant had responded to the allegations by sharing screenshots of his conversations with Sanjana and wrote, "I feel sad to reveal personal information but it seems that there is no other way to state what was, in the midst of this curated and well timed smear campaign. From the first till the last day of the shoot, this is what happened on the set with Sanjana."
Kangana Ranaut's team in a recent tweet, called out the actress for not responding sooner to these stories of harassment. Kangana's team tweeted, "Many blinds claimed tht Sushant raped Sanjana, such news abt her harassment wr common in those days,Why Sanjana took her own sweet time to clarify?Why she nvr spoke so passionately abt her friendship with him when he ws alive? @mumbaipolice cn investigate."

Sanjana responded through an interview to Zoom TV, saying, "I have said more than enough about what happened. Also, I've given a clarification which should have been enough at that time. It wasn't late, nobody is an authority to decide what's late and what's not. You don't fuel rumours. It is not my responsibility or job to clarify rumours."

She also said it wasn't appropriate to refer to the issue as a #MeToo case as both Sushant and she had clarified that nothing happened. "So, we shouldn't disregard the #MeToo movement by calling it #MeToo" because #MeToo is when there's an actual issue. But when two people are trying to say there's no issue, that's not called the #MeToo movement that's rumour mongering and that shows the power of unethical reporting."
