Salman Khan has appealed to his fans to show support to fans and family of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Since Sushant's death on June 14, social media has erupted in anger, with many blaming bigwigs for allegedly driving the actor to suicide.
Salman Khan is one of the Bollywood figures against whom the Twitterati have directed their ire.
"A request to all my fans to stand with Sushant's fans n not to go by the language n the curses used but to go with the emotion behind it. Pls support n stand by his family n fans as the loss of a loved one is extremely painful," he wrote.
Hashtags like #JusticeForSushantSinghRajput, #BoycottSalmanKhan, #BoycottStarKids and #BoycottBollywood are still trending on social media. Salman fans have started the hashtag #WeStandWithSalmanKhan.
Salman's tweet comes days after an advocate, Sudhir Kumar Ojha, filed a case against him and other Bollywood celebrities with regards to Sushant's death. "In the complaint, I have alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput was removed from around seven films and some of his films were not released. Such a situation was created which forced him to take the extreme step," the lawyer was quoted as saying.
