Story
Aakash (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a blind man who earns his living by playing the piano in a bar. He becomes witness to a murder. The more he tries to get away from it, the more he gets entangled in the murder he cannot really 'witness'. That's where all the thrill, crime and dark comedy gets rolling.
Director Sriram Raghavan lets the cat out of the bag right at the start of the movie when he reveals to the audience that Aakash is actually not blind. It's only his girlfriend, played by Radhika Apte, Tabu and all in between who don't have a whiff of it.
Screenplay
The film boasts a brilliant screenplay that will not leave the audience bored even for a second. It is so beautifully crafted that one is forced to think of what's going to happen next. However, what is dished out is beyond anyone's guess! The scrumptious screenplay is entertaining and it features dark comedy that will only leave the audience grinning. Right from the first scene to the last, the audience is glued to the screen.
Dialogues
The dialogues are crisp, sweet and engaging. Even during the crime scene, the light-hearted lines will make anyone laugh.
Music
The music is also spellbinding. Remarkably, all the songs in the movie are situational and don't seem out of place.
Direction
Impeccable direction. Raghavan concocts tension, suspense and comedy effortlessly. His work will grip your imagination and make you wonder as to 'what will happen next'. The way the film has been written, there is no flaw in any scene. Also the casting director has done a superb job bringing the Andhadun actors on board.
Acting
Ayushmann Khurrana portrays the 'blind' man's role with ease and yet he exhibits the tension required to give you goosebumps. While Tabu will leave you speechless as always with her depiction of an inconsistent, vulnerable and deceitful character. Sairat (Marathi blockbuster) actress, Chaya Kadam, Ashwini Kalsekar, Zakir Hussain, and yesteryear actor Anil Dhawan are flawless.
Verdict
It's a must-watch movie. The audience will definitely not regret it. It's a family entertainer. My word is - 'you must go watch Andhadun'!
