The much-awaited 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' brought together the fresh combination of Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Imtiaz Ali. With no big-ticket film in the first half of 2017, hopes are high on this movie to rake in the moolah.
The film solely revolves around two characters - the tour operator, Harry (Shah Rukh) and his client Sejal (Anushka). Sejal loses her engagement ring in Amsterdam and comes back in search for it. She won't leave unless she finds it and Harry is stuck with her, much against his will.
Her thick Gujarati accent had become the talking point when the trailer first hit the screens and many wondered if it would come out convincingly on the big screen. She left the audience in splits whenever she said a dialogue in her accent, and it clearly proved her acting chops, again.
As expected, Shah Rukh manages to swoon the ladies in every frame he appears in. He is, after all, called the King of Romance for a reason.
Pritam does a phenomenal job in the music department and gives wings to the poetic lines by Irshad Kamil. Being an Imtiaz Ali film, there is a 'sufiness' to the love story that he is known for. But his movies are also known for complicated contemporary love and that is when the audience loses connect in 'JHMS'. At one point, when the pair is on the look-out for the ring and is fooling around, the movie-goers wonder where the story is heading. If there is anything we know about Imtiaz Ali's love stories, it is that they are not for everyone.
'Jab Harry Met Sejal' is shot in the beautiful locations of Prague, Berlin, Holland, Amsterdam. So, while you are lost wondering where the movie is heading, the scenic beauty keeps you hooked. The movie goes through its ebb and flow, and all you can do is enjoy the good bits, till they last.
So, if you are a fan of the leading actors or have a Sufi heart, go watch this movie.
