Bollywood murder mystery 'Ittefaq' has managed to create the right buzz around itself since the trailer launch last month.
Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, the trailer shows Dev (Khanna) investigating a double-murder case that has only two witnesses, Sidharth and Sonakshi. The plot reveals that these two characters are also the prime suspects in the murder case. Who the real murderer is forms the crux of the movie.
While all Bollywood movies are released in UAE on Thursdays, a day prior than the worldwide release, 'Ittefaq' won't be releasing this Thursday. We checked the websites of all leading cinema halls in UAE, including Reel Cinemas, Vox Cinemas, Novo Cinemas, and found no screening for today (November 2, 2017). The websites further mention the release date of the film on November 3, 2017, in line with the India release.
So, is the movie release being postponed to avoid spoilers from the thriller to be leaked on social media? The Bollywood brigade has been running a campaign, rightly named 'Say no to spoilers', this week.
Producer Karan Johar had in a recent interview shared his worry that in today's age of social media, it is difficult to control the spoilers from being shared over the internet and WhatsApp. So, did the makers of the film change the release date to avoid the spoilers? Well, we can only speculate.
Meanwhile, scores of Bollywood actors have come forward to lend their support to the #SayNoToSpoilers campaign by posting videos on Instagram.

Ittefaq is a remake of Rajesh Khanna's 1969 film of the same name and the 2017 version is directed by Abhay Chopra, BR Chopra's grandson, who produced the original film.
