Following life threat, Mumbai Police have stepped up Bollywood actor Salman Khan's security after the arrest of contract killer Sampat Nehra.
Although no personal bodyguards have been provided to Khan yet, police personnel have been deployed around Khan's apartment in Bandra (West). "We have enhanced the overall security of Salman Khan. Police will be present around his apartment to make sure no nefarious activity is done by the gang from Rajasthan," he said.
The actor's security has been tightened after sharpshooter Nehra, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Rajasthan, was arrested by a Hyderabad Special Task Force last week. Nehra was reportedly planning to kill Khan and had monitored his movements at his Mumbai residence.
Bishnoi gang has become one of the most notorious gangs in Rajasthan and has several cases registered against it in the Punjab-Haryana belt. Lawrence Bishnoi had threatened to kill the actor in January over the blackbuck case, for which the actor used to visit Rajasthan to appear in court.
Bishnoi and Nehra, a former national level decathlon athlete, had earlier been active in students' politics in Chandigarh, according to Hindustan Times report.
