As Indians around the world celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced that an upcoming film project of the same name will be dedicated to his sister, Alka Hiranandani, while also naming this project as special one.
Set to be directed by Aanand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan will celebrate the relationship between brothers and sisters. Sharing a heart-touching poster from the movie, Akshay is seen embracing his three on-screen sisters highlighting the relationship brothers and sisters share with one another.

Taking to social media to share the exciting news, Akshay Kumar said how this was the "quickest" he had ever agreed to star in a film. He posted the following message to his over 100 million followers: "A story that touches your heart so deeply & so instantly, it's the quickest I've signed a film in my career. Dedicating this film, #RakshaBandhan to my sister, Alka & to the most special bond in the world.that of a brother and sister. Thank you @aanandlrai, this one is very special"
 
Raksha Bandhan, which is due for release in cinemas November 5, 2021, is written by Himanshu Sharma and will be produced by Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films.
Akshay also has a number of releases coming up including Laxmmi Bomb and Sooryavanshi. The actor is also working on another movie, Atrangi Re.
