underrated artists in the business vienabecause she has yet to attain the superstar status of other singers like Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Pops Fernandez or Zsa Zsa Padilla, despite being a talented singer and dancer, Vina says she doesn't think there is any reason to feel bad.

“It's been 20 years, and I'm still here. [If they're calling me an underrated artist], that's okay. I don't have to prove anything to anyone anyway. I still consider myself very blessed.”

She has no time to worry about what people are saying about her, because she is currently busy preparing for her upcoming concert, Vina Morales: Showgirl at the Araneta Coliseum this August. Vina will be joined onstage by her special guests Ogie Alcasid, R&B Prince Jay-R, her younger sister Shaina Magdayao and Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai de las Alas.

Vina knows that this is probably the biggest challenge of her career. The Araneta Coliseum, which seats close to 20,000 people, is the kind of venue that can make or break a singer.

The concert will be produced by Live Artist Productions. This early, Vina is already preparing hard for the show. Aside from learning her songs and rehearsing her spiels, she has taken to working out in the gym to whip her body into shape for those demanding dance routines. She is even taking voice and dance classes.

Is there any hint of nervousness about the show? Is she worried that she might not be able to fill such a huge venue? “I think for any artist, it's a big deal to perform in a venue like the Araneta Coliseum,” says Vina. “Yes, I know that a lot of artists have tried [to stage a concert at the Araneta Coliseum] and failed. I'm just trying to think positive.”

Her career is very important to her. It's so important that even her lovelife has taken a backseat temporarily. There are rumours about suitors sending her bouquets on a regular basis, but Vina doesn't take these seriously. “I've never been loveless,” she jokes. “But even if I am, I'm still happy. I'm just taking it easy. These rumours, they're really part of the business, and after being here for so long, I'm used to them already.”
