THREE-YEAR OLD INJURED DUE TO PARENTS’ NEGLIGENCE

A three-year-old UAE national girl with head and chest injuries was found by a Bangladeshi national and taken to hospital by the Ajman Police on Thursday (December 29). She had apparently fallen off the staircase of a house,

police said but her parents claimed she was a victim of a hit-and-run accident case. She was found lying on a deserted street in Al Bustan district in Ajman around 9am with severe injuries and was in a semi-conscious condition at that time.

A 32-year-old Bangladeshi national who was passing-by rushed to her rescue. After failing to find her parents, he then called the police who arrived at the scene and rushed the girl to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman where she is currently receiving medical treatment.

Major Sani Obaid Al Matrouhsi, Director of Al Madina Police station said that the police operation room received a call from the Bangladishi man who heard the girl screaming for about 30 minutes and rushed to her rescue.

After the Bangladeshi man failed to find her parents who were busy at a wedding party, he called the police and the ambulance to rescue the girl whose head was bleeding. The girl was found lying on the road near a wooden staircase of a house which had blood stains all over. The police officers investigated the place of accident and found that the girl had rolled from the stairs and hit her head on a stone, which caused her head injuries.

He said that after her parents realised their daughter was missing in the middle of the night, they called the police who informed them about the accident. The parents claimed that their daughter was hit by a car whose driver had run away.

They alleged that the traffic police didn't take action to find the offender. But the police investigation and evidences confirmed that the girl had climbed the stairs of a house and rolled over and hit a big stone, which caused her head injuries and profuse bleeding.

Major Al Matroushi said there was no indication to show that the girl's injuries were caused by traffic accident, as the place of accident has no vehicular traffic.

The parents refused to comment to Khaleej Times. Dr Abdulkareem Hilmi, Medical Director of emergency room at Khalifa Hospital said that the girl is suffering from the injuries on the right side of the head. There was internal bleeding but her condition is stable.

Brigadier Al Matroushi stressed that the accident was not caused by traffic and investigations are on. However he accused the parents for their sheer negligence and called on the families, guardians and parents to watch their innocent little children who can be exposed to any kind of danger.
