French screen siren Brigitte Bardot warned she would not authorise Hollywood film makers to shoot a movie about her life, arguing that no other actress could capture her personality.
“There is no one who can do it,” said Bardot, 76, a 1950s and 1960s sex symbol and star of And God Created Women who retired from acting in the 1970s and became an animal rights activist.
“They have their own personality, but they don’t have mine,” she said on French radio station Europe 1.
She was responding to reports that US director Kyle Newman was planning to make a film about the French star and would cast his wife, the model and actress Jaime King (above right), as Bardot.
“I don’t agree to a film about me without me having been warned and without me agreeing on who will play my part,” Bardot said.
“I have heard nothing about it and there is no question of doing anything about me without my agreement.”
Bardot was recently played by her compatriot Laetitia Casta in a biographical film about another 1960s French icon, singer Serge Gainsbourg. Bardot told Europe 1 she had not seen that film.
