— one on the Saturday the 9th of October exclusively for women in the Al Multaqua hall at the World Trade Centre and the other on the Sunday the 10th of October in the Crystal Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency, open to couples and is by invitation only.

Meet Pria Kataria, the gorgeous designer who turns quite a lot of heads herself, is out to make stunners out of every woman she works with. Unlike other designers who design everything under the sun, Pria specialises in evening wear and sure leaves her mark. Her designs — inspired from the east — are heavily embellished, look rich and are almost royal in their feel, flattering the wearer. One look at her designs is enough to tell us that she understands the woman of the Middle East and her fashion needs — something to do with her settling down in Kuwait, one wonders.

Her clothes, though heavily embroidered, are quite wearable. That said, they are for very special occasions and are designed to stop people in their tracks ... such is the power of her designs.

Pria is known to be different in an area other designers do not venture into. For fashion conscious and exclusive clients who want something unique, she makes custom haute couture taking into consideration the wearer's personality, face structure, height, skin tone, hair colour and the occasion — any woman looking for exclusivity cannot get a better deal than such a personalised fashion statement.

The collection that she is bringing to the two shows is called the 'Gypsy Collection', thoroughly feminine and romantic, with a modern feel. The fashion show — her first in the area — is choreographed by Achla Sachdev and is set around a marketplace, or the souq, to bring out the magic and grandeur of an era gone by and focuses on the 'Occidental Couture', as she terms it, which is an amalgamation of eastern and western ideas, with every piece in the collection celebrating the feminine form.
