before the advent of the new school term.
The activities this week have been tailored in the lines of edutainment for children. Said Ahmed Thani Al Matrooshi, CEO of Dubai Development Board. “Last year the Dubai Development Board participated in the DSS with the Surprises Island event, which was a huge success.
But this time we have undertaken the full and final week theme of Back-2-School exclusively. Being the final week of such an important festivity, we appreciate the trust placed in us and we will do our best to make this event a memorable one,” he said.
The week kicks off with the opening ceremony on August 25 at 7.30pm at the Modhesh City Main Stage at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The week will continue with numerous fun activities and competitions for children around the participating shopping malls around Dubai. With shows, competitions, and various other activities lined up, malls across Dubai as well as the Modhesh Fun City will come alive with the weeks' events.
Said Amal Al Hammadi, Head of the Back-2-School Surprises organising committee, “The line up of this week's events has been structured to provide an unforgettable finale for all visitors to the various locations during the Knowledge Surprises week. A lot of detailed planning has gone into each and every event that it cannot be but a success.”
Visitors to several malls will be entertained by the Mini Bus Carnival, a 2.5 x 1.5 school bus filled with back to school characters.
The bus which is made of rubber is carried around by characters such as the Pencil, Bag, Book and Ruler who wave out of their windows entertaining the children.
This show will take place from 5pm to 9pm on August 25 at the Modhesh Fun City, August 27 and 31 at Al Ghurair City, August 29 and September 2 at the Deira City Centre, August 26 and 30 at the Ibn Battuta Mall, and August 28 at Reef Mall.
