THE COLOUR CODE

The colour changing process may be completed within the current year. As part of introducing uniform colour patterns of taxi companies, two franchise companies have already adopted the colour of the Dubai Transport Company, which has been setting new standards to make the city tourism friendly.

According to industry representatives, all the taxi companies in Dubai have been asked to change their colour and adopt the beige colour of Dubai Transport Company taxi. While many prominent cities have taxis with uniform colour, Dubai with several thousand cabs run by different companies does not have a colour code.

Apparently the colour changing move is also an attempt to help commuters spot a taxi without any difficulty. “All taxi companies have been asked to adopt the Dubai Transport Taxi body colour pattern. The only difference will be, the colour on the top of the cabs. Most probably they will use either green, blue or red for the upper layer,” said a taxi company source.

Many taxi drivers who spoke to City Times said they have been informed about the colour change and are looking forward to the new uniform look. “It may take a few hours to paint a taxi into the new colour. Mostly colour sticker is used,” said a taxi driver of Carz Taxi. Sometimes customers find it difficult to locate taxis which come with full body advertisements. Arabia Taxi, the new taxi company started by Cars has entered the road with a beige colour similar to Dubai Taxi. While National Taxi, which has gray coloured cabs, will also change the body colour to beige, but it will have the liberty of using the gray colour or any other colour of its choice for the upper part of the body.
