THE CAPITAL GETS HOTTER THAN HOT

The capital is all set to sizzle tonight and the rising temperature is not the only cause — two hotter than hot can get singers might be the ones to blame.

The R&B Queens Amerie and Nina Sky are all geared up to unleash some hardcore music to make your soul sizzle and your hips shimmy. Adding that extra punch of flavour; Art Dodger will also be grooving some sassy tunes to help you move that body. But before the party starts, to give you an insight on what to expect tonight at the Hiltonia Beach Garden, Abu Dhabi, City Times caught up with Christopher Joubanian, Director of Operations at DNA Events — the mind which conceptualised this power packed concert.

What makes Amerie and Nina Sky the chosen ones to rock this night away?

It is because of their huge popularity and fan base in the UAE. Amerie has been nominated for the Grammys in the past and now she is out with a new chart topping album, Touch, so fans have reason to look forward to some excellent performances. On the other hand, Nina Sky's music has been melting into this reggae tone genre that has a massive following in this country. So we are really bringing together for the audience music they have been craving for. And to top it all we have the Artful Dodger who will pack in some high energy entertainment into the concert.

What sort of an evening can the fans expect in terms of mood and atmosphere?

DJ Artful Dodger will open the night and set the crowd into dance mode. Amerie and Nina Sky will be performing their greatest hits as well as their latest tunes the audience can groove to. We have an outdoor venue close to the beach, so the set up is marvellous. From the music to the tiny details, everything is arranged to make sure the audience leaves feeling they have had a good time and unwound with a bang this Thursday!

What is the turnout you are expecting?

I do not want to give out numbers but judging from the hype and frenzy with which the market has reacted we can easily expect a sell out show. Today at 12 in the afternoon we are having an album signing session at the Virgin Megastore in Abu Dhabi and this will be aired live on radio as well.

Why has Abu Dhabi proved to be a better option as a venue and not Dubai?

I will answer that with a question — 'Why not Abu Dhabi?' It's a market that has untapped potential for entertainment and events. We have been organising Fresh Nights (a club night held once a week) in Abu Dhabi for 3 months. The response has been excellent and people want more. However, this is not an Abu Dhabi based concert; it is for everyone from across the country who want to party hard on the weekend. So get there, let your hair down and let the music do the rest!
