sonuIt is a music album, which has Sonu doing something zara hat ke. After doing popular, peppy and soulful numbers, the much-liked crooner is now trying his hand at classical music. Innovatively titled Classically Mild, this one is high on classical ragas, mixed with tunes from western and Indian instruments to create a symphony that few can resist. As for the theme of the album, it is about various emotions —love, solitude, anger and patriotism. "So far, I have been a mainstream singer, doing commercial kind of music. Not that I haven't enjoyed it. But somewhere along the way, I felt the need to try something new and creatively satisfying. This album is my tribute to classical music," said Sonu during the release of the album. At the occasion, Sonu also performed some of the most memorable numbers that Bollywood has heard —right from Amitabh Bachchan's Pagh Ghungroo Baandh to Yeh Ishq Haai from Jab We Met —to create an eclectic repertoire. He also threw in Bee Gee's Staying Alive with Indian music to create an Indo-Western remix. All in all, Sonu was very much in his elements. Back to Classically Mild, the album's been released by Sa Re Ga Ma, with the songs arranged by Deepak Pandit and penned by Ajay Jhingran.
