More than 670 girl students of Maryam bint Sultan School for Secondary Education in Al Ain have made a 550 metres UAE national flag to mark the UAE National Day on December 2.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, the school principal said that the 34th National Day makes all UAE residents and expatriates remember the late President Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the union builder. "The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is continuing the march of development and civilisation by the great efforts to fulfil the national ambitions," she said.
Shaikh Zayed led his home emirate, Abu Dhabi, and the larger federation through 30 years of strength and wealth. "We are the generation that understands Shaikh Zayed's thought and ethics and also his concepts," she added.
Much of the changes have been owing to Shaikh Zayed's guidance, through which he managed to establish a model governmental system. Shaikh Zayed was widely considered as one of the most successful Gulf Arab Rulers.
She said that His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a great successful leader as he leads the UAE to worlds of welfare, peace and safety. Short messages were exhibited on computers during the festival in which students talked about the country and the national achievements in the last 34 years.
