Sandra Bullock’s run-in with a stalker last month was more terrifying than initial reports suggested, because she came face-to-face with the man who broke inside her home and was eventually charged with 19 felony weapons charges.
According to TMZ, the actress heard a loud banging inside her West Los Angeles home at about 1am before going to bed. When she approached her bedroom door to close and lock it, she saw the intruder, Joshua Corbett of Glendale, Calif., standing in the hallway wearing dark clothing.
Bullock was able to slam the door and lock it without incident before calling the police, but expressed concerns that the man may have been in her home while she was showering.
TMZ cites a search warrant the Los Angeles Police Department obtained to search Corbett’s home, where authorities discovered an arsenal of weapons, including a machine gun and assault rifle.
The warrant also states that Corbett, 39, was carrying a notebook containing pictures of Bullock and multiple handwritten notes, one of which mentions her 3-year-old son, Louis.
“I will forever be thinking of you and Louie, my son, as you are my wife by law, the law of God and you belong to me and me to you,” one of the notes reportedly read.
When the police arrived, Corbett yelled, “Sandy, I’m sorry. Please don’t press charges.”
Corbett was charged, but pleaded not guilty to burglary, stalking and possession of a machine gun, as well as seven counts of possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of an assault weapon, and 10 counts of possession of a destructive device, which police found in his home.
According to Corbett’s attorney, Stephen Sitkoff, his client suffers from serious mental health issues and didn’t intend to harm Bullock.
The charges Corbett is facing could result in more than 12 years in county jail. Reuters
