In the Philippine showbiz world today, reality shows have become one of the quickest routes to stardom. Even if they are not really talent searches, shows like Pinoy Big Brother often turn out people who somehow find their way into the business.

Take 19-year-old Robert Marion Eusebio Domingo, who placed second in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus. Robi - who never really thought he’d end up an artista - celebrated his 19th birthday with a catered Mongolian barbecue dinner at his family’s new home last week.

Robi, whose biggest attraction is his youthfulness and boy-next-door charm, has been kept very busy since leaving Big Brother. In fact, he is one of the busiest ex-teen housemates. He had a featured role in My Girl as Vincent. Recently, he also bagged a major endorsement and images of him are now plastered all over MRT trains and billboards along Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares. StarStudio Magazine also recently added him to its “Sexy Dozen,” a list of the 12 hottest guys under the age of 23 (the list included other young actors like Gerald Anderson, JC de Vera and Enchong Dee who occupied the first three spots ahead of him). Being named in the list is a feat considering how fresh he is to the business. Incidentally, Robi is the only ex-PBB Teen Edition Plus housemate to make it to the list.

As if all that weren’t enough, Robi was also named a finalist in the ongoing search for the new MYX VJs. He is currently ranked number one in terms of text votes, proof of his fast-growing fan base. Robi has a group of fans who call themselves the ROBIlievers. There is another group called the Robicole Circle of Friends, which supports his onscreen partnership with fellow ex-teen housemate Nicole Uysiuseng.

But while he is getting his feet wet in the exciting world that is show biz, Robi is also trying to cope with life as a freshman Health Sciences student at the Ateneo de Manila University. His dream is to follow in the footsteps of his father, a surgeon. Robi graduated with second honours from the Ateneo High School, and decided to continue on at Ateneo for college.
