RICE ROBBERS TO FEAST IN PRISON

Dubai criminal court sentenced four burglars (Greek, Bahraini and Pakistani nationalities) to a one year prison term followed by deportation. They were arraigned of stealing a trailer carrying 590 sacks of "lotus" rice, while it was parked opposite one of the companies in Al-Oweir area in Dubai.

The first defendant, Antoine Facilios Douglas of Greek nationality, stole the trailer with the said cargo. Then he asked the second defendant, Pakistani Jaafar Khan, to find a purchaser for the loot in return for Dh1000 commission. Accordingly, he brought Bahraini Mohammad Abdul Aziz, who was told that this huge quantity of stacked loot must be sold as soon as possible.

The Bahraini agreed with one of the supermarkets to purchase the stolen goods. But, unfortunately for the robbers, the police were up to them and captured them red-handed. They were later referred to court, which ruled the above-mentioned verdict.
