Reinventing the 'ek do teen' magic

DIRECTOR N Chandra is ready with his next venture 'Breaking News'. "It will be ready for release by the end of August. I have always been making issue based films. Sometimes I succeed sometimes I fail. It's not a new subject, but it's an unusual script," he says.

Interestingly, the director completed the film in one and a half month. "The film is about the biases we garner in life- cast, religion, minorities and more such divisions. I have shown that only humanity survives ultimately and nothing else. It is an out and out entertainer. I have wonderful actors like Anupam Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Rajpal yadav, Perizaad, Atul Kulkarni, Vijay Raaz and Seema Biswas in the film. Sarika plays the role of a socialite," says the acclaimed director.

What about Tezaab II we quiz him. "Yes I am working on the script right now" he reveals.

Do you plan to sign Madhuri Dixit for the sequel? "I've not thought about it. I have to ask her. She is a very talented actress and this film was one of the vehicles that took her career ahead. If she refuses I'll have to look for someone of her caliber. But I am confident I'll satisfy my critics," he says.

When asked that he was the first director to give her a break, he says, "Nothing of that sort, in fact she made her name on the Bollywood domain on her talent and we both made it up ourselves. Nobody can say that he or she has made anybody's profession. You know the show must go on."

What about a cameo being played by Anil and Madhuri? (Laughs and confirms) "Yeah, I am planning to rope them up in a cameo role for the sequel of 'Tezaab'. And this film is going be on a larger scale than the original, wherein in I am shouldering the responsibility of writing and directing the film. Also the film will be having a bigger star cast. Let me tell you the new film starts where the old film ends."

So what sort of a story are you planning this time and what audiences are you targeting? "Actually it's too early to unfold the story to you." When coaxed a little further he divulges a bit, "It's a violent, breathtaking but a passionate love story that would target the youth." What are your future plans? He discloses, "I am planning to make a third sequel which will be a combination of 'Style' and 'Excuse-me'."
