Reel life animosity

FILM MAGAZINES CAN take a backseat, now that top stars have begun to air their personal spats on the big screen. One just has to take a look at Shah Rukh Khan’s home production Billu to get an update on his current equation with Salman Khan.

In the film, SRK gets someone to ask him about his fight with another top Khan; after which, he launches into a patronising explanation on how actors are actually one big family and he has no fight with any other Khan. He also lets you know that like in any normal family brothers will fight and make up! So not only does SRK keep the public posted about his take on Salman, he also does a one-up by publicly apologising to the actor in 70mm! Now which audience wouldn’t buy that?

However, in another scene, he is not so generous about a so-called ‘top stuntman actor’ called ‘Abhay Kumar’ (read Akshay Kumar). The digs taken at Akshay are rather obvious and further fuels SRK’s dislike of Khiladi Kumar who seems to have angered Khan by capturing the overseas market, once Khan’s exclusive territory. And while everyone named Akshay the new box-office king after Singh is Kinng, Shah Rukh smirks, “Anyone may claim to be king; I am still the badshah!”

But even as you chuckle at this, Salman Khan is not to be outdone. Rumour has it that in Vipul Shah’s London Dreams, Salman has been busy directing a screen version of his spat with Shah Rukh on Katrina’s birthday. To refresh your memory, Salman made digs about Shah Rukh’s ‘matlabi’ nature last July, while SRK raked up the old Aishwarya-Salman issue. The Khans nearly came to blows over the issue. A screen sequence between Salman and Ajay Devgan in London Dreams, replicates this incident in a pub. For good measure there’s the heroine Asin who plays their common friend.

According to a source, “The screen argument refers to professional and personal issues between the actors and is treated very similarly to the incident that took place last year.”

To catch up with the latest film gossip, watch London Dreams… that is, unless another big film first hits the screen with yet another star controversy!
