is in the winning circle of 12—proves Dina Bonnevie’s theory that showbiz and politics do not always mix.
Dina herself has been asked to run several times in the past, but she always turned the offers down. “Politics is not for me,” says the award-winning actress and star of Walang Kapalit. “I’m allergic to politics, even if my father was in public service. He was provincial administrator to [former Cagayan de Oro governor] Louie Villafuerte for 12 years. There’s so much cheating in politics, why waste my time and my money? If the reason is to serve the people, I can always serve even if I’m not a politician.”
Besides, Dina has her hands full running her business and acting. She is grateful that even after all this time, she continues to get meaty roles in the movies and on TV. Her role as Edu Manzano’s second wife in Walang Kapalit is one example.
