Anderson, 45, had written a letter to Christine Quinn, the speaker of the New York City Council, and asked her if she would be interested in coming to a campaign gala in the Big Apple on October 23 and hear a proposal to replace Central Park’s horse drawn carriages with cars, reports nypost.com.

However, Quinn wrote a letter back to her saying: “Unfortunately, due to prior commitments, I won’t be able to join you... I know you care very deeply about the safety and well-being of these horses... the NYC Council and I do too.”

The actress has been actively involved in saving animals. She is an active member of People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) and also held protests against seal hunting in Canada.
