Teen mum Bristol Palin, the unwed daughter of conservative powerbroker Sarah Palin, will join the new season’s lineup of Dancing with the Stars next month, a news report said on Thursday.

Palin, 19, would follow in the reality TV footsteps of her former fiance, Levi Johnston, whose small-screen adventure involves running for political office in Alaska.

The 11th season of Dancing with the Stars is set to premiere on September 20 on ABC. The network declined to comment on E! Online’s Palin report, saying the lineup would be officially announced next Monday.

Palin last month made a guest appearance as herself on sibling cable network ABC Family’s teen drama, The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

She and Johnston, now 20, became the parents of a baby boy, Tripp, in December 2008. But their relationship has been rocky, with the couple twice breaking off their engagement plans amid an awkward battle for legal custody of their son.

Johnston has also publicly feuded with his would-be mother-in-law, a former Alaska governor who was U.S. Senator John McCain’s running mate on the Republican presidential ticket in 2008. He has filed papers for a reality TV show he is filming seeking the mayoralty of Wasilla, a post she once held.

Dancing with the Stars was the second-biggest show on TV last season, behind American Idol, averaging about 20 million viewers. Celebrities pair with professional dancers in the weekly elimination contest, and undergo intense scrutiny in the tabloids. Reigning champ is Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who teamed with dancer Derek Hough.
