COME PREPARED

Even though it may feel like a crisp cool day to you, your dog – who is wearing the equivalent of a heavy coat – may beg to differ. Make sure you come prepared and bring water and a bowl for your dog, especially if you are planning on being out all day. For fair coated dogs you should also bring sunscreen.

DON’T FORGET YOUR MANNERS

The Dubai Pet Show is a great way for your dog to make friends and socialise. However, before you extend a paw to your newfound canine friend, double check with his owner first. Even the most courteous of pooches may be a bit intimidated by the crowds and noise and may want to be left alone. It goes without saying of course that you must keep your dog on a lead at all times and any mess made by you, stays with you. Bring a Bon-Ton poop scoop bag with you and clean up after your dog in style.

SNIFF OUT A BARGAIN You can find some fantastic deals at the show. It may be a special promotion, an exciting competition or just a great product you have not seen in the shops before. With all the leading pet brands exhibiting, you can take your time choosing a gift for your loyal companion.

SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE If you’re thinking about making a dog part of your family then consider paying K9 Friends a visit; they will be attending and helping out at the Pet Show, and all their lovely dogs will be shown in the K9 Friends display. The K9 stand will be giving information, selling merchandise and used books, so even if you aren’t thinking of expanding your K9 family you can always make a valued donation to a very worthy cause.

PAWS LAWS

The show is an ideal place for you to learn more about your pet. Whether you watch a best in show or an obedience class, take some time to better understand your four-legged friend.

Highlights of the day and traditionally most loved by younger visitors are the Puppy Classes, Crossbreed Classes, Child Handler Classes, as well as competitions such as Best Six Legs, Dog Most Like its Owner, Happiest Dog and Fancy Dress. If you would like to register your dog for any of the 2012 Pedigree & Whiskas Dubai Pet Show competitions or classes, log on to www.dubaipetshow.com.
