and Fancy Dress parade held last Friday at Safari Adventure, a DSS initiative housed at the Dubai World Trade Centre by the Real Estate Department.

The Most Beautiful Pet which had 72 pet owners participating with their various pets for the Best Costume, Strangest Animal and the Most Beautiful Animal categories, kicked off to a growling start with the owners lining up with their pets way in advance of the starting time of 5.30pm.

With the theme hall filled with animals, the participants scattered around to sooth their respective animals that ranged from snakes, cats, birds, rabbits, a family of tortoises, fish and even a monkey. Despite the fact that some pets were the natural predators of others, thanks to the training of each owner, the pet show commenced without any incident.

As a large number of participants vied for the fancy dress competition, children came in with their faces painted to match their cats while the cute pair of brown bunnies dressed in wild west theme with the male sporting a brown leather jacket, hat and boots and the female with her pink hat, t-shirt, skirt and shoes stole the heart of the crowd. The prize for the Best Costume however went to Ahmed Khalifa, a UAE national for his jungle themed dress with his pet chameleons and snakes hanging all over him.

The strangest animal category award also went to a UAE national, Abdullah Abdul Rahman for his tiny pet monkey. It was tough rivalry for the Most Beautiful Animal Award with the line-up of different breeds of gorgeous cats on the ramp. After much deliberation by the judges, Petra Muller, Pamela from Master Food Middle East, and Hedayah Al Kaabi, coordinator and member of the Safari Adventure organising committee from the Real Estate Department, the award went to Tahreem and her black Persian.
